The company has made significant steps forward in securing key partnerships with major players in the oil & gas industry in key global regions to achieve their growth plan over the next ten years.
Ready to make a step forward in their expansion plans, our client embarked on the recruitment of their first technical professional to be based in the UK. A chartered chemical engineer was needed with three main areas of responsibility: supporting existing operations at global locations, managing & facilitating expansion projects around the world and, finally, developing business strategy on a global scale. The right person needed key experience in all three areas, combined with the flexibility to relocate and travel around the world at short notice.
In an attempt to source the right candidate, the company used advertising in local and national press and social networking sites, combined with the utilisation of their network of contacts. Unfortunately, the response from advertising was weak and the few candidates who they did take forward to interview stages proved uncommitted and ill-prepared. With major projects in motion, the company needed the right person, fast.
From our first conversation with the company, our aim was to understand the company, its goals and to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirement from the outset. From here, we were able to put together a step by step approach to the assignment and communicate this with the client, including timelines, feedback sessions & fees. Our approach was to utilise a combination of headhunting, network referrals and our international network to identify a list of potential candidates. Using information from the client, we were then able to run a detailed screening interview to narrow this down to a shortlist of four strong candidates who fit the criteria of the role and the culture of the company, each fully committed to the process. We then planned and managed the remaining steps of the recruitment process and, after intensive interview and assessment stages, a candidate was chosen. We then effectively delivered an offer and managed both client and candidate through the counter-offer process through to start date and beyond.
The company was delighted with the recruitment of a great individual and our effective management of the process. With this key addition to the team, the company has been able to make great steps forward in their global expansion projects, while maintaining the effective performance of their current plants. Together with Antal, this has allowed the company to further develop the UK technical team around this individual and increase their growth, competitiveness and market share significantly.
