Job Description

Job Role: Senior Manager Purchase

Position Summary: The job incumbent manages all project and serial (commodity) purchasing activities in a company. He/she ensures that all requirements regarding the material quality and favorable purchase prices and terms are fulfilled.

Main Accountabilities:
Manage all purchasing projects and serial (commodity) purchasing activities within a company and ensure that the components, materials, supplies and services bought, meet the company standards of price, quality, contractual requirements and timing

Plan, develop and manage projects, align all activities with the involved internal and external parties (Customers)

Supervise / lead product development projects in purchasing as a project buyer, ensure that the deadlines and the planned material costs are met, participate in the product - functional reviews-

Supervise the post-SOP material purchasing, ensure the timely delivery of the supplies as well as the pricing and material cost savings

Define, manage and analyze the supplier risks regarding the material quality, deadlines and prices, process the supplier / customer complaints, resolve issues in the context of escalation management, ensure the targets for the supplier ppm and incidents

Has a direct responsibility for the selected materials in alignment with the global MGMs

Plan, develop, implement and support the local and global ratio projects to ensure that optimal cost reduction is achieved without compromising on product quality and other contractual requirements

Manage the contract negotiations and price re-negotiations with new / existing suppliers for both production and non-production materials / services in collaboration / alignment with the MGM

Plan, forecast and analyze the material price development for the local and global projects

Develop, implement and maintain new and existing processes, tools, procedures and guidelines in accordance with the company internal as well as legal requirements

Ensure the application of all purchasing related guidelines, procedures and legal requirements within the company/site

Ensure that all purchasing documentation and reports are available and up-to-date

Ensure the adequate support of the Advanced Supplier Quality and fulfillment of the APQP- related tasks




Lead, direct, evaluate and develop a high performance team of purchasing employees to ensure that the purchasing activities meet the set targets and standards

Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and coordinated

Guide, motivate and develop the direct reports within the HR policy

Job Requirements (Qualifications, Skills, Experience, Competencies):

Engineering graduate degree or relevant education with an additional degree in Business Administration

12 -15+ years of work experience in purchasing in international environment - Automotive / Engineering industry preferred

Understanding of  organizational systems (SharePoint, Reporting, xSEP, etc.) and structure

Communication skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work in a team

MS Office skills, SAP

Specific Experience Requirements (Skills & Experience):

Experience in injection molded plastic parts, resins, die casting tools & parts and CNC machined components

Part costing - Cost estimation, Zero Based Costing, Cost Break Down Analysis

Annual / Periodic Negotiations

Project level negotiations

Material cost index tracking and monitoring its effect on part cost

Contracts Management

Experience in working with suppliers on costing, sourcing Injection molds, stamping dies, Fixtures and gauges

Supplier strategy development & implementation (including supplier consolidation)

Project planning, execution and management

Supplier risk identification & management
