Process Engineer

 

My client, a global player in the manufacturing of coated paper for flexible packaging and labels, are looking to recruit a Process Engineering professional at their site in North East Belgium. Due to their diverse range of products, they serve a number of industries such as food, beverage, consumer packaging goods, entertainment to name but a few. They are looking for a driven individual who has day-to-day operational support experience, as well as the capabilities to implement and lead Improvement projects on site too. Position Summary:

To ensure continuous drive towards the highest levels of customer satisfaction through top quality products and service levels, we are seeking to hire a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer applies engineering techniques to improve internal processes.

  • Collaborates intensively with supervisors and operators to ensure the proper quality focus in day-to-day operations, the implementation of continuous improvement projects and corrective actions.
  • Works closely with Operations to ensure top quality, cost effective products are supplied to their customers on a timely basis through “first time right” production, a solid defect prevention/detection/resolution quality system and assistance in troubleshooting technical/quality problems
  • Analyses processes, defines/tracks key process indicators/metrics, statistically analyses their trends and steers the organization and its processes to optimal levels
  • Supports the Operations and Technology teams in testing and analysing products and materials
  • Ensures compliance to product specifications as well as its reporting, training and certification requirements
  • Identifies and executes improvement projects to reduce process waste, improve product quality and increase productivity/margins
  • Assists the R&D team in identifying opportunities for product improvements and development
  • Works with other divisions to leverage best practices globally

 

Position Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in (preferably Chemical) Engineering
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in successfully leading Quality/Process Improvement in a manufacturing (chemicals or web coating) environment
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train others
  • Motivated and organized self-starter able to work independently; high energy necessary to lead multiple projects and initiatives
  • This position requires someone who is results-oriented, willing to learn new methods and technologies, and able to work with a minimal amount of supervision.

The candidate should bring a proven track record in strong analytical and problem solving skills, demonstrating success in interpreting data, identifying trends, thinking through issues and coming up with solid solutions; cross-functional teamwork resulting in quantified success; and a strong competence in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Quality/Process Improvement experience in a paper manufacturing or paper converting business
  • Competence in Microsoft Office or other database and Minitab or other statistical software
  • Demonstrated success in applying Lean principles in manufacturing
  • Experience in paper or film coating; gravure coating; printing
  • Knowledge of process control instrumentation

 

Travel: typically <10%

Language: English competency

Overtime, weekend, and holiday work mandatory when required.
