Key Accountabilities

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure safe, smooth and efficient organisation of the imported feed material around the terminal using site driving machinery such as bobcats, pay loaders which equates to approximately 50% of the role.

The post holder will also be required to operate the weigh bridge which requires the individual to be computer literate. The ideal candidate will be flexible in terms of their availability to the demands of the role and daily activities/responsibilities across the Berth. The role will primarily involve working outdoors in ever changing weather conditions on the docks so candidates must be comfortable in working in such an environment.

  • To comply with the Company’s Health & Safety policy in all aspects of daily work.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge and understanding of our core business.
  • Act as point of contact at the facility in absence of Terminal Manager.
  • Liaising with the client and their hauliers on matters of load releases/queries.
  • Advising Port Manager in respect of problems arising with machinery/stores/system/the operation and health & safety.
  • Assist with compliance to TASCC regulations for warehousing and support the Compliance Officer for areas of non-conformity.
  • Drive pay-loaders and bobcats Including Weekends / Bank Holidays depending on Business Requirements to manoeuvre feed material around the Terminal including loading of customer vehicles for transportation across the UK
  • Operation of the weigh bridge including Weekends / Bank Holidays depending on Business Requirements
  • Active participation in the site behaviour based safety
  • Safe working within the terminal and ensure that the working environment is maintained to the highest standard of safety including housekeeping standards
  • Coordinate with Management and colleagues regarding operational handovers
  • Basic awareness of the Environmental Permit for the site and the operating conditions and limits within it


Candidate Profile

  • Substantial relevant experience in operating loading shovels, skid-steers and other plant in a bulk cargo handling, port/waste handling/construction environment.
  • Minimum Car Licence Category B
  • CITB license or equivalent license preferred
  • Computer literate in Microsoft word, excel and outlook
