Our client within the FMCG nonfood industry is one of the world’s largest suppliers of select categories of branded office products with revenues around $2 billion and presence in over 40 countries worldwide. We are currently searching a Key Account Manager with home-office base in South Germany.

Purpose of the Job

To maintain and develop customer relations and extend the customer portfolio to deliver sales and maximize the profitability for the organisation. Direct report to Sales Manager Germany / Austria.

 

Your Accountabilities and Key Tasks

- To be the first point of contact for the customer on designated accounts (acting in contract / retail / mailorder / Etail channel)

- Build strategic business plans with customers, hold quarterly reviews and develop promotional activities to achieve the overall strategic goals and objectives

- To negotiate and manage annual agreements and the promotional program including the use of “pay and play” monies and maximise the company’s return on investment

- To recognise sales opportunities and liaise with appropriate colleagues to grow the wider business

- To work with internal marketing team to deliver promotional activity that is bespoke for designated accounts ensuring that forecasted sales are generated

- To understand the overall ranges and co-ordinate product selection and catalogue production with the customer

- To secure product listings in catalogues and on web

- To monitor, communicate and implement activities that reduce the impact of competitor actions

- To develop a category management approach with customers

- To liaise with internal teams such as Pricing, Customer Service, Finance and Marketing to ensure effective delivery of marketing activities

- To be responsible for health and safety of yourself and that of colleagues and to apply to the guide lines of Europe with regard to the Health and Safety Policy

 

Your Knowledge and Experience

- Qualified sales professional with a proven track record of a minimum 5 years experience in Sales and Key Account Management roles

- Ability to work in matrix structure

- Work independently and proactive. Positive and willing behaviour

- Ability to perform under the consistent pressure of a sales environment

- Excellent negotiation and communication skills

- Office products industry / product experience preferable

- Native German speaker and fluent in English. Other languages are preferable

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written

- Strong analytical capabilities and strong commercial aptitude

- Competent user of MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
