Job Objective:
To ensure that the bank’s liquidity and funding are safeguarded; business, market & financial risks and cost element are identified and effectively managed in accordance with the banks policies and strategic objectives. Drive the generation of low cost liability; maintain leadership position in money market, bonds, foreign currency and treasury /bills market. Become a destination bank for foreign portfolio investors. Effectively and efficiently manage the banks’ balance sheet position and substantially contribute to the financial performance of the bank. 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate and monitor strategies, including analyzing and defining goals and targets for the Global Markets department
  2. Supervise activities of the department
  3. Define rates and prices for the bank’s products
  4. Advice on products price and rates to internal and external customers
  5. Direct efforts to increase profitability through commissions and fee incomes on investments
  6. Ensure optimum management of the bank’s balance sheet
  7. Ensure the bank’s liquidity position is robust at all times
  8. Coordinate and manage relationships with external customers of the department and communicate new and current investment products to clients
  9. Ensure compliance, with regulatory requirements in the department
  10. Ensure reports for regulatory authorities and management are prepared in time
  11. Participate in various management meetings e.g. Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO)
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
  13. Clarify structures and roles, ensuring that clear operational targets and goals are set for staff and those resources are profiled and recruited accordingly.
  14. Assist with the facilitation and alignment of department structures in conjunction with line requirements.
  15. Responsible for the performance and development of staff.
  16. Provide guidance and coaching to staff regarding Global Markets  activities through the effective management of activities of the treasury teams
  17. Monitor and evaluate performance of Unit Heads
  18. Identify and manage business risks from both a customer and bank perspective by ensuring that appropriate control mechanisms are in place to minimize risk exposure.

Job Specifications     

  • A minimum of University degree in Finance, Economics, Business administration or numerate sciences
  • MBA/Professional Certification in Banking is required
  • Minimum of 8 -10 years cognate experience in Treasury Management in Banks level with at least 4 years of supervisory role
