Team Lead- Information Systems & Research (Consulting Support Services)

Job Description

My client is a top-tier Management Consulting business with significant consulting operations across all major economic sectors globally.

The Team Lead- Information Services position is responsible for diverse support services for Information Services including team management, training, research and resource management. The TL coordinates with the Senior Regional IS Manager and the Director of Global Information Services to ensure alignment with global policies and goals. The position will have specialized knowledge of resources in one or more of the company's Consulting Practice Areas.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

Managerial and Professional Development

  • Recruits, hires, promotes and terminates within the local Information Services department
  • Clear understanding of pertinent HR laws and regulations
  • Directs workflow of researchers in both the Delhi office and the Mumbai office
  • Manages the activities of the IS team including the development, implementation and evaluation of individual and team goals
  • Evaluates team members on a regular basis and recommends changes to salary and bonus awards as appropriate
  • Establishes and maintains service levels to support case teams and client development
  • Regularly participates in skill development activities, both external and internal
  • Actively participates in regional and global IS initiatives and encourages and supports team member involvement as well
  • Authorizes Department purchases and oversees payments
  • Manages annual budget and monitors monthly spending
  • Actively engages in the marketing of Information Services products and services
  • Works with other colleagues regionally and globally to foster interoffice and interregional communication and cooperation
  • Meets with and updates local Office Head at least once a year to discuss IS progress, customer satisfaction and Worldwide Employee results.  May be done in consultation with dotted line manager
  • Coaches less experienced Information Services staff

Asset Building

  • Coordinates with the Director of Global Information Services and the Senior Regional IS Manager as well as Information Services counterparts in other offices to effectively contribute to, support and promote Information Services’ efforts and the overall efficient use of company's desktop and other research resources
  • Plans for, oversees and participates in the creation and delivery of training programs for consulting and consulting support staff
  • Coordinates participation in local, regional and global contracts with the Director, Global Information Services, the Senior Regional IS Manager and the Senior Global Resources IS Manager
  • Participates as an active member of an Industry Team
  • Takes an active role in the continuous evaluation of products and services
  • Facilitates team and customer communication in order to resolve issues
  • Participates in asset building projects including contributions to the Information Services Portal and other special projects as assigned
  • Works with GXC and other Knowledge Management efforts on an ongoing basis to identify and participate in asset building

 

Research Support

  • Conducts research for local and regional case teams, Practice Areas and client development utilizing electronic, print and other resources as appropriate
  • Provides filtered and often synthesized research results
  • Proactively works with Case Team Managers to understand the context of the case and specific case information needs
  • Coordinates research services for other offices as necessary
  • Gets feedback from internal clients on performed research

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Degree in Library Science or Business Administration from an accredited university or equivalent higher education degree
  • Seven+ years of information services experience, preferably in a fast-paced consulting, financial services or other business setting or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conducting complex research inquiries using electronic and print resources in a fast-paced professional services environment
  • Training and presentation skills required
  • Ability to act as a change agent
  • Experience in building strong customer relationships
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid project management and people management skills required
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in native language and English required
  • Experience in use of key databases such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Factiva, Thomson Research, etc. preferred
