SQL Database Administrator

LEading Housing Association is looking for a permanent SQL Database Administrator with skills in SQL installation and configuration, performance tuning, stored procedures and clustering based in their office in Camden, London. The successful candidate will work with a team of up to 9 .Net Developers in a Scrum Agile environment.

An important aspect of the role will be to reduce the estate of SQL instances.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and health checking of the SQL estate
  • Ensure the SQL estate adheres to best practice configurations
  • Ensure the SQL estate is available 100% of the time, excluding planned outages
  • Ensure all databases have maintenance plans and are tuned to run as efficiently as possible
  • Ensure all databases are backed up accordingly and have the required high availability configurations
  • Ensure regular restores and disaster recovery processes are carried out to give the business confidence
  • Ensure the SQL estate remains patched with security fixes and to the latest functional versions where applicable
  • Make recommendations as to improvements in the SQL estate
  • Diligently carry out and report on capacity
  • Create and update database designs and schemas
     

Key Skills & Personal Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years professional SQL DBA experience
  • SQL 2005-2014 installation and configuration
  • SQL performance tuning (events etc)
  • SSIS/SSRS
  • Stored Procedures
  • Transact SQL
