Job Description

 

Key responsibilities:

Ø Is accountable to project manager for contributions that meet the project plan.

Ø Build-up specialist knowledge in Fermentation (area of expertise). Integrate, apply and develop it in respective innovation projects.

Ø Stay abreast of new external developments in the area of expertise and advise on applicability in business group processes.

Tasks:

Ø Perform research work conforming to QESH regulations and feed scientific data, findings and interpretations into the project. Identify bottlenecks and indicate solutions.

Ø Prepare content for contracts for external collaborations and ensure SHE compliance.

Ø Perform special assignments for others (including previews, reviews, and tenders).

Ø Indicate prospects of obtaining a patent and assist in the preparation of regulatory submissions and contribute the required scientific documents.

Ø Plan and monitor one’s own work within the project plan.

Ø Provide guidance and coaching to operators, technicians, associated scientists.

Authorities:

Ø Acquire and assess information about the business context of the project.

Ø Have access to required information and resources from other primary process functions and consult third parties within discipline (other business groups, vendors of assets, service providers).

Ø Publish scientific publications / presentations; participate at scientific conferences according to the need of the research activities. Keep up-to date with scientific literature.

Ø Establish and maintain an internal and external network in the area of expertise.

Ø Propose and evaluate new ideas and support the initiation of R&D proposals and projects in order to contribute to innovations and new concepts in the area of expertise.

 

The ideal

Ø PhD in the field of Microbiology, Fermentation, Biochemical Engineering or Bioprocess technology (or equivalent qualification).

Ø The job holder will have 3-5 years’ experience in fermentation or bio-process development, Rich industrial experience is preferable.

Ø With affinity for fermentation technologies: scale up/scale down, mass transfer and mixing.

Ø Have clear affinity with biochemical analysis (e.g. HPLC, rheometry, enzyme assays, biomass, etc.)

Ø Fluent in Mandarin and English.

Ø Good managerial, communication and interpersonal skills.
