EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Formal schooling / degree: 

Matric, a National diploma/degree in Mechanical engineering.

Experience:

3 - 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory capacity and experience with both Maintenance and Toolroom departments in a manufacturing environment.

JOB OBJECTIVE(S)

Is responsible for coordinating and supervising the work of employees in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment as well as manufacturing of new tooling. Responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems and all existing tooling.

MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide a preventative maintenance service to ensure equipment and tooling is in good working order;

Continuously ensure that the maximum capacity is achievable focusing on machine capability and capacity

Trouble Shoot Plant & Equipment and Tooling;

Ensure the management of outsourced services and contractual obligations are met and standards are maintained;

Actively put measures in place to analyse reasons to eliminate/ reduce breakdowns within the production facility

Ensure the equipment are compliant to applicable standards;

Manage the Maintenance and Toolroom function (People and resources) on site to ensure productive and competent delivery of a quality service;

Responsible for performance evaluations and time/attendance records, departmental meetings and addressing employee concerns and personnel issues according to Company policies and procedures;

Assist with Maintenance budget and controlling of cost;

Be willing to transfer knowledge and skills to others and manage apprenticeship training where applicable;

 Procurement of parts for Stock and Breakdowns.

 Establish and maintain suppliers relations and develop new suppliers to meet quality requirements for tooling components;

Buying of materials for tooling;

Maintain equipment and tooling status reports and update Maintenance Manager for continual focus;

Ensure that production KPI’s are met and that corrective actions are being implemented and maintained;

Daily liaison with between Engineering and Production for changes or problems.

KNOWLEDGE

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access and MS Project)

Technical Knowledge of drawings, machinery and equipment.

Pneumatics, hydraulics, basic understanding of electrical, machining, materials, etc.

Excellent administrative ,planning and organising skills with attention to detail
