Title:  Finance Director

Brief Description:
One of our focus clients who are a 100% owned subsidiary of one of the largest education companies in the world is currently looking for a Financial Director who will provide strategic, responsive and sound support to the company’s Board and Senior Management Team (‘SMT’) enable financial, systems, policy and administrative framework within which operational units are able to function optimally.

Qualification and Experience required:
Charted Accountant Qualification or similar.

Experience
Between 15 – 20 years’ experience in a financial role, with at least 7 years’ experience in senior management roles
Global exposure is critical
Past experience of M&A, analysis, due diligence reporting, business integration planning and implementation is critical

Key Responsibilities

Planning/ budgeting and controlling/ monitoring:
Provide the Board and SMT with relevant and timely strategic and operational financial management information.
Assist the SMT with the preparation and review of annual and multi-year departmental plans and budgets (operational and Capex)
Assist with the development of business plans and/or costing of proposals, and advise on options and outcome of choices, where relevant.
Provide strategic and timely financial advice to existing and new managers.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounting reports and obtain commentary on performance, progress and reasons for variances, where relevant.
Present and deliver outcomes to internal stakeholders.
Develop, implement and maintain effective control reports, including but not limited to finance and operational KPIs and statistics, that clearly identifies risk areas and inform and guide appropriate action and timeous decision-making.
Optimize the cost of, and effect efficiencies in, the operations of the departments through interaction with departmental decision makers, in order to maximize the funds available for company strategic priorities.
Monitor budget and forecast changes at regular intervals.

Financial and general 
Assume full responsibility for all financial operations and functions within the department
Ensure that funds and cost centres are set up and maintained to support the unit operations and specific requirements.
Ensure integrity of all postings to General Ledger accounts, Funds and Cost Centres, and follow up with appropriate departments within the University as required.
Prepare schedules and documentation for external audit, where required.
Support the company Internal Audit team with their regular reviews.
Communicate, co-ordinate and manage the relevant processes to ensure all financial year-end and other administration requirements are met on a timely basis to ensure full legal compliance with financial requirements.
Identify, investigate and formulate proposals regarding the improvement of effectiveness and efficiencies within the finance departments.

Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
Develop relevant reports as and when required – e.g. Quarterly Board Reporting, Investment Appraisals.
Communicate and consult with relevant stakeholders.
