About the Role:

A leading insurance company based in Cape Town is looking for a Financial Manager: Group Technology and Information with a  minimum of 3 years’ experience.  The incumbent will be responsible for sound financial management of costs and recovery models of an IT shared service.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • CA (SA)
  • >3 years + relevant experience (IT and/or financial service)

Job Description:

  • Sound financial management of costs and recovery models of an IT shared service
  • Develop and maintain transparency of IT cost and cost drivers to Shared Service client base
  • Cost accounting principles to refined and implemented
  • Relationships with IT Shared Service clients
  • Financial management of service providers
  • Define, review, refine cost drivers for appropriate cost allocation models to multiple shared service clients
  • Optimise and influence cost efficiencies
  • Optimise and influence revenue optimisation
  • Financial process improvement and controls effectiveness
  • Ad hoc special financial project deliverables
  • Financial analysis of results and translation into appropriate action
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Sustained financial health (3-5yr view)
  • Good governance and support of approval frameworks
  • Management of provisions/debtors’ controls
  • Full Balance sheet management and intercompany confirmation
  • Strong knowledge of VAT
  • Identify Trends for corrective action
  • IT Capacity translation to financials
  • Support Project financials
  • Financial modelling and business case definition and evaluation
  • Translating financial reports to non-financial IT technical people

Knowledge & Experience

  • Good and proven business acumen
  • Data analytical ability will be to your advantage
  • Analysing complex accounting and improving processes
  • A track record demonstrating strong client focus
  • Walker and essbase (financial system) currently in transition
  • SAP experience will beneficial
  • TM1/IBM cognos/Qlikview experience will be beneficial
  • Advanced Microsoft excel ability
  • A good understanding of Information Technology will be required
  • Strong cost accounting and cost accounting knowledge and ability
  • Ability to seek solutions to problems and to deliver results
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a changing environment and adapt accordingly
