Legal Counsel-FMCG

Job Description

Job Requirements:

  • Ensuring compliance of laws and regulations for all operations in the organization;
  • Providing legal advice and support on a varied range of legal matters such as, corporate governance, high level negotiations, litigation, acquisitions, commercial transactions to Executive Level and Board of Directors;
  • Responsible for the creation, development and implementation of internal governance policies, processes, procedures, systems and controls, and continuously monitor compliance;
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues;
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights;
  • Assist in the preparation and research of proposals and tries to identify problems;
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone within the organization;
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties
  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships and conducts new research work as well;

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent Master’s is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures
  • Should have in depth knowledge of the African laws and regulations
  • Must be bilingual English and French; Arabic will be an advantage;
  • Should have a minimum of 12 years’ experience in corporate and commercial legal matters
  • Must have strong sense of attention to detail and should be able to complete the given tasks and requests promptly and accurately;
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity;
  • Should be updated with the current laws and should be able to interpret and implement them in the right situations.;
