Health, Safety & Environmental Manager

Job Description

The Site HSE Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and coordination of all environmental, health, and safety programs for the site. This position will develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all HSE decisions, which bear critical importance to overall objectives, operations, and profitability.


main responsibilities & KPI’s

·         Review internal HSE policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and change existing, or develop new recommendations from these assessments, ensuring that employees are properly informed.

·         Responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining HSE management system keeping up to update with all relevant legislation (OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 management systems)

·         Address specific reporting and record keeping requirements of OSHA, EPA, etc., as well as other pertinent safety/regulatory compliance matters and to ensure project sites are in compliance

·         Reporting on the performance of the Management System and continuous improvement objectives

·         Identify, review and assess relevant legislation and other requirements

·         Advising the PLT on information pertinent to Health & Safety and Environmental issues

·         Preparation and maintenance of Corporate documents and procedures for Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Systems

·         Approval and issue of Health & Safety and Environmental Procedures

·         Supporting the Internal Audit Programme

·         Supporting operations in OHS and Environmental matters

·         Co-ordination and direction of all relevant employee Representatives (Fire Marshals, Safety, Environmental etc), with the aim to drive compliance and continuous improvement within these areas.

The Medical Nutrition is enjoying year on year double digit growth and Nutricia Liverpool is reviewing our production capability to keep up with demand. The medical nutrition products have a strong market share, however the business is operating within a mature market, however there is scope for expansion both within local and global markets, and the emphasis in the coming years with be on continued volume growth, whilst ensuring we drive our cost targets in the right direction.

education & Professional Experiences needed

-          To have a Degree in Health and Safety and at least 5 years of relevant experience in an HSE management role

-          Real passion for H & S

-          To have excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills

-          Collaborative working style and ability to build excellent working relationships.

-          Have demonstrated continual professional development

-          Customer focused

-          Be eligible to work in the UK/ possess a UK Work permit

-          Desirable is chartered member status of IOSH

Functional Competencies: -

-          Good understanding of OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems

-          Strong knowledge of current health, safety and environmental legislation

-          Understanding and experience of internal and external auditing and inspection

-          Understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems

Technical Skills: -

-          Minimum intermediate level skills in all Microsoft software.

-          Able to manipulate data and create reports in an HR database.

-          Proficient in Lotus Notes

-          Project management and organisational skills
