Job Description

Role Purpose    

Implement strategic plans within area of responsibility.



Establishment, alignment and management of target and budget goals whilst ensuring effective control of costs for a range of functional areas to increase cost efficiency

Improve marketing and budget growth to increase brand equity by analyzing and monitoring results

Development of a service culture which build rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service

Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SME’s, project managers and senior staff members

Maintenance of expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments industry best practices and provision of proactive advice and solutions to relevant stakeholders

Through analytical business thinking translate strategies into actionable goals and execute relevant projects / initiatives aligned to strategic objectives with specific performance measures and control systems to track progress - building segment branch capacity

Ensuring a collaborative network across business segments in order to achieve business objectives

Manage designated product development projects from inception to final execution, including post implementation evaluation.

Initiate and manage market research, data mining and quantitative analysis to ensure sustainability and future competitive growth

Explore local and international markets for new products and trademarks in order to expand and strengthen the business' market position

Facilitate the conversion of knowledge and ideas into new or improved products, processes and services

Manage own development to increase own competencies


Additional Requirements            

As a strategy analyst you will form an integral part of the Strategic Analytics team and will be expected to play a key role in all aspects of delivering strategic support, initiatives and strategic business opportunities for the Savings and Investments Business Unit.

You will be required to provide answers to the Business Unit’s strategic questions through strong research, modelling and analysis. You will take ownership of the delivery of workstreams within a more complex project and play a central role in the development of the subsequent value propositions (Strategies). You will also be capable of pulling together multiple streams of work to deliver on smaller projects with limited supervision.

You will be responsible for driving information gathering efforts from primary and secondary sources, and assess its accuracy, validity, and materiality. You will be required to provide insights into the market, new and existing customers, competitive landscape and trends. You will also be required to provide early warnings on threats and opportunities in an ever evolving environment and evaluate the potential impact.

You will be in an environment that works under Executive level pressures and are expected to deliver results exceeding expectations. To be successful, you will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of how work performed contributes to the overall success of the business.

You must have an organised, structured, methodical approach to tasks, be analytically strong, and demonstrate sound strategic thinking and problem solving abilities. You must also be comfortable to deliver real strategic insight based on sound analysis to key stakeholders in the business.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, ambitious, and resilient and can think creatively when addressing tasks.

Experience would be 3 to 5 years of either strategy consulting, consulting with work on strategic projects or financial services experience.

The ideal candidate would have a postgraduate or honours degree.
