Job Description

Your Job

  • Claims verification, processing reserving & payments, within the set individual mandate including processing the data in the claims management software system
  • Request and analyse loss adjusters reports where appropriate
  • Deduction of priority from the gross claim, indexation of non-proportional claims where appropriate, calculating reinstatement premiums and monitoring the aggregate limits under reinsurance contracts and updating the data in the claims management software system
  • Provide payment information to Reinsurance Accounting & maintain close contact to ensure the payments to clients are made within the agreed timelines
  • Complete large loss notifications for claims in excess of agreed thresholds
  • Maintain client contact and provide excellent client service
  • Filing claims correspondence & documents
  • Assist with special tasks as and when needed
  • Regular follow-up of all outstanding claims, verification and review of loss reserves
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of regular claims statistical reports, both internal & external
  • To enhance data integrity and maintain quality assurance in accordance with best practice guidelines
  •  Assist with the compilation, presentation and analysis of claims data
  • Conduct peer reviews and assist with external claims reviews.


Your Profile

  • Matric / AIISA, or studying towards AIISA or relevant equivalent prior experience in claims handling management
  • At least 2 – 3 yrs experience in handling non-life property/casualty claims, and/or casualty underwriting in a primary insurance and/or reinsurance company
  • Good working knowledge of Non-Life Insurance products
  • Knowledge of Reinsurance would be an advantage
  • Good level of systems expertise, skills and experience
  • High level of numerical and analytical skills
  • PC Literacy is a pre-requisite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of SAP or other integrated business management systems
  • Ability to organise a heavy workload independently
  • Can work effectively as a member of a team and provide support to the claims unit and other business interface departments
  • Able to build and maintain professional relationships
