Internal Audit Specialist

About the Role:

A leading insurance company based in Johannesburg is looking for an Internal Audit Specialist with a minimum of 5 years audit/financial services experience.  The incumbent will be responsible to perform control adequacy and control effectiveness reviews.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

·         A completed degree in Finance/Auditing or equivalent degree and must have passed Auditing as a                      subject on a second year tertiary level

·         CA qualification will be an advantage

·         Minimum of 5 years audit/financial services experience

·         Investments experience is essential

 

Job Description:

·         Provide assistance to Senior Internal Audit Manager in the Emerging Markets Environment

·         Perform control adequacy reviews of business processes

·         Perform control effectiveness reviews of business processes

·         Perform ad hoc assignments (management requests/project assurance etc.)

·         Prepare assignment planning documentation

·         Prepare audit working documents

·         Prepare draft audit reports for discussion with clients

·         Report control breakdowns/audit findings to appropriate levels of management

·         Perform quality assurance over control effectiveness reviews and audit observations

·         Audit Committee attendance, when required

·         Honesty in dealing with client information and/or systems of a financial nature

 

Knowledge:

·         Basic understanding of the “Business Approach to Internal Auditing”

·         Understand the role of control models

·         Understand the Institute of Internal Auditors (IAA) standards and practice advisors as it relates to                        assignments execution

·         Understanding of the Financial Services Industry

 

Additional Requirements:

·         The role requires extensive travel in and/or outside of South Africa
