Qualifications and Experience
4+ years progressive accounting/supervisory experience
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English and
University degree in accounting, finance or related field required
CPA or equivalent designation preferred
Must have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
Knowledge of US GAAP and Mexican GAAP including an understanding of
accounting controls, processes and procedures is required
Experience in annual audits and an audit perspective that is reflected in
accounting policies and procedures; work papers and support documentation
Supervisory experience required overseeing staff, department functions and
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Navision experience is a plus
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely accounting and reporting according to US GAAP and Mexico (local GAAP), as applicable.
Ensure the Month/Quarter/Year closing is prepared, reviewed, and reported accurately and timely.
Ensure monthly reporting and analysis of results is sent to the VP of Finance in the US office by required due date.
Develop and implement policies or revamp existing policies so they are streamlined/automated to ensure timely and accurate closing and reporting.
Perform analyses of financial and operational data to ensure the accuracy of reporting, improve the financial and operational performance of the company, and provide information required by management, including the forecast/outlook.
Assist the VP of Finance to design, implement, maintain and improve controls to monitor the company’s assets (including inventory and stocks), manage costs and expenses, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and prevent misappropriation of assets/fraudulent activities; develop and maintain policies necessary to establish such controls.
Manage an accounting staff of four responsible for Accounts Receivable/Billing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, etc.
Work closely with operations as a business partner to ensure proper internal controls are in place and followed and compliance with laws and company policies
Review and monitor monthly Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow and related reconciliations.
Review and post journal entries to ensure timely accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
Manage and supervise payroll processes ensuring compliance with local laws and statutes.
Advise the business on cost saving improvements and opportunities to maximize profits.
Oversee annual financial statement audit with external auditor including issuance of the report and presentation to the VP of Finance.
Liaise with bank to manage and ensure the efficiency over cash-based transactions along with proper internal controls.
Manage and maintain corporate records and corporate-law related items such as POA’s (powers of attorney) and servicing agreement; take lead to help manage legal issues as necessary.
Oversee the management and control of the credit, billing, and collections process including timeliness of billing and collections.
Review weekly cash forecast and manage cash, including timing of payments to vendors and collections from customers to improve the working capital.
Statutory and regulatory Reporting to external authorities as required (Mexican Tax Requirements).
Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
