Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Our client designs, builds implements and supports automated system solutions for logistics.

The role: 
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for:
•leading mechanical design aspects of projects.
•interpreting project layout and specification into final design layout and conveyor data list.
•insuring the system integration drawings and specifications delivery.
•supporting the review, check and approve unit cycle times, system throughput, and general dimensional requirements.
•supporting the development of detailed designs in alignment of SCM program.
•allocation of design tasks to project related workload.
•reviewing, checking and approval of project related documentation. (i.e drawings, calculations, data lists etc.
•Be active part in the GPEI Initiatives (e.g. Lean, Remote, Maestro etc), where necessary
•creating detailed drawings and parts lists for equipment within the scope of supply.
•specifing details of any additional special conveyor elements or associated equipment.
•supporting the creation of an installation file to pass on information to the site supervisor and installation team.
•creating detailed Operating and Maintenance Instructions and provide spare parts lists as required.
The general responsibilities are:
•To liaise with systems sales and project engineers during the project phase.
•To liaise with project managers, customer and sub-contractors during the order execution phase.
•To liaise with production planning and purchase departments.
•To provide technical information to any department so entitled, i.e electrical design, projects, service, spares.
•To maintain and use wherever possible, standard product information for the execution of orders.
•Where necessary to develop special and new standard products to suit specific projects and new markets.
•To comply with the company policy as defined in the Staff Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual.
The requirements: 
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Fluent in English
Previous experience in materials handling industry
6 years’ experience in a similar role
Previous use of CAD tools
