Jr. Data Architect

Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and evangelize data architecture guiding principles,policies, best practices, reference architecture and standards;
  • Define the reference data architecture, providing strategic architecturedirection and ensuringalignment with local and global mandates;
  • Liaise with Head Office and IT architecturecommunity within the ING Group in relation to common technology infrastructuresystems used and the requirements of those systems;
  • Responsible to close gaps between as-is and to-be architectures, reviewingand analysing existing systems and make recommendations for improvementskeeping in consideration data security and data integration;
  • Design data architectures to meet business and IT requirements.Proactively collaborate with development teams during Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC) when architecture review is required;
  • Interface with vendors with regards to thecontinuous maintenance and development of the IT architecture;
  • Monitor compliance of development work against established standards andprinciples and work to resolve issues through appropriate formal and informalchannels;
  • Work closely with other architects and developers to give guidance ondata architecture topics;
  • Play a support role in selecting and implementing technologiessupporting data discovery, data quality, analytics and BI tools;
  • Work closely with Chief Data Officer in order to ensure the alignment oflocal initiatives with head-quarter global data management policies andpractices;

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of data management, data integration and databasedevelopment technologies and processes;
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management orcomparable background experience;
  • 5+ years of experience required in a complex IT environment;
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud-based data strategies, NoSQL, SQL, DataWarehouse, ETL, Business Intelligence and Analytics tools;
  •  Advanced database development skills and experience required;
  •  Advanced knowledge of Software and Data Modelling methodologies (UMLbased);
  •  Good knowledge in data lifecycle management;
  •  Good knowledge of applying TOGAF methodology (or similar EA framework)to the document data architecture;
  •  Good knowledge of application development processes;
  •  Good knowledge of IT processes and SDLC;
  •  Good knowledge of OWASP application security concepts; 
  •  Ability to analyze ETL code in both PL/SQL and shell script. Ability toanalyze existing database schema DDL/instance layout;
  •   Fluent in English (written and spoken) is a must
