Project Director - Construction services

Exciting opportunity to join a global leader. My client is currently looking for a Project Director for the construction services. You will be based in the Netherlands, the role will be to support the growth of their market place in the Benelux, The company is recognised as one of the best engineering design firms globally, they have nearly 100,000 employees worldwide, in 150 countries. The firm is a leader in all of the key markets that it serves, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, oil and gas, water, high-rise buildings and government. The role of Project Director has 3 main focuses; Business development, Project Delivery and team development


On the business development side, you will be accountable for achieving BD, generating new business through marketing initiatives and develop long lasting business relationships. You will support the regional leadership team to develop and implement strategies to grow the business and participating in Bid preparation. You will act as an ambassador for the company, representing the company to potential and existing clients, government agencies, partners and competitors. You have 8-10 years experience in the construction industry and will be able to advice on trends and developments in the Benelux market.  You will also be responsible for financial KPI’s and regularly updating the pipeline report with current opportunities.


Project delivery is to act as a Seller-Doer, you will take responsibility for the project on site through to delivery. You will lead projects, setting up teams and implementing company standards / procedures, ensuring projects are structured for success. This includes setting up the project strategy, construction logistics and design approach. You will direct the project teams and manage the resource planning process to deliver client expectations. You will monitor the financial performance of projects, while meeting and/or exceeding profits.


Another Key aspect to this role is the development and mentoring of staff, you will actively engage in the recruiting and induction of new members. You will also monitor project team performance and take corrective action as required.


Requirements for this role are at least 8-10 years experience within the construction industry, experience with project management and business development essential, you need to have a strong network within the Dutch market.  You will have had experience with leading design build / EPC / EPCM contracts.

Must thrive in a fast paced environment where multi-tasking and prioritizing is necessary; you will have good energy, enthusiasm and determination to get things done. You will work closely with the regional director, who you will report to regularly on any issues involving the projects or our contracts.

You must have a master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering, preferably from a Dutch university. Strong communication skills, native Dutch speaker and fluency in English required.  Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team. Flexibility to travel as needed.

International experience is a bonus, as well as German or French Language a bonus.
