Role Description

Main purpose:

The Head of IT Operations works closely with the Chief Technology Officer (located in Great Britain) & Chief Operating Officer (located in Prague - in the day-to-day IT leadership and management of the IT Team and the team’s managers.

Key responsibilities:

  • The managers are assigned to a particular service(s) for which they carry substantial technical and commercial responsibility.
  • This is much more than a ‘grown up’ senior engineer role because these roles involve substantial accountability for overall team outcomes – i.e. all the team members should be happy with the technical delivery they receive from IT and whether the service/project has achieved the required commercial success expected by the firm.

Will have to lead a team of 15 specialists (internal, 3 in Bucharest, 8 in Budapest plus 2 team leader,  2 in Prague and the rest spread across the region)

  • Manage all Client and prospect consultancy is a requirement as and when is required.

  • The Head of IT Operations is responsible for leading, managing and motivating the IT department and delivering all the IT projects.
  • Takes full responsibility for budgeting, estimating, planning and setting the direction for of the function

  • Has “end to end” ownership of IT
  • Designs processes, guidelines and procedures.
  • Listening carefully to customer feedback, synthesising it and acting sensibly on it (e.g., with commercial reality)
  • Taking an entrepreneurial approach to systems design, build and support
  • Identifying key areas of technology that should be considered for both Company clients and internally – with a clear view on how this will leverage the best service and commercial opportunities for both the client and Company itself
  • Writing reports or contributing materials for reports – this could be internal reports and also client reports – understand the value and importance of customer reporting

The IT infrastructure consists of a centralised infrastructure located in a collocation data centre close to one of the regional offices.

Technology architecture is mainly based on Microsoft Back office Technology, Active Directory, Windows Server, MS Exchange, Citrix and VMware, Hyper-V.

Local desktops and applications are delivered via Citrix XenApp in a server based computing model.

Wide Area Network connectivity is provided by VPN services.

There are approximately 330 users across nine offices currently but the firm plans to extend and establish new offices within the next 1-2 years.

 Minimum Requirements for the short listed candidates:

-        Proven experience as an IT manager in a region/group of companies

-        Excellent communication skills and a very balanced and structured person

-        Good speed within a most efficient possible approach in a crisis situation of any kind

-        Quite mobile  (more than 30-50% of his/her working time, especially within the initial period)

-        Excellent ethic’ standards – to be able to prove, due to the type of activity of the Company

-        Great managerial skills

-        Very good English
