Job Description

Role  and Responsibilities

Ø Strategic:

Responsible for cost-effective, timely and accurate purchase of raw material, supplies, tools, materials, etc for the Plant

Ensure cost savings by effective negotiations with the vendors and logistics agencies for any material or goods transport

Responsible for providing storage and warehousing support to the entire Plant

Ensure zero loss of production due to any procurement related delays

Ensure that outbound logistics are timely and accurate

ØProcurement:

To effectively interface with the suppliers in conjunction with the Purchase team to compare rates, release P.O. terms & conditions, handle material verification and further inspect the goods

To work closely with suppliers and customers to improve operations and reduce cost, in consultation with the Plant Purchase Head and the Plant Head

ØLogistics & Distribution planning

To devise an efficient Logistics Management System for the Plant, in consultation with the Plant Head to ensure delivery of finished goods as per committed timelines and cost to the customers

To provide logistical support for inventory control stores & shortage management

To ensure minimal warehousing and handling losses

ØInventory management:

To establish effective inventory control - slow, non-moving & obsolete material, for ensuring ready availability of materials to meet the production and the customer schedules

ØMIS & Reporting

To effectively use SAP for material accounting, dispatch planning, inventory management and resource optimization

To monitor the usage of SAP by the team, and guide them on the same

To prepare regular reports on cost-saving done on logistics and warehousing, procurement and material handling, analyse the same, and provide the same to senior management for facilitating the decision-making process

Ensure proper documentation for and procedure adherence always

To prepare any other report as and when required to monitor inventory control actions by using/implementing better concepts like Kanban, JIT, etc.

To lead the team in performing their duties

To carry out performance appraisal of the team member and identify training needs and areas of improvement
