HR Business Partner

Job Description


Relevant Honours Degree in Industrial / Organisational Psychology

Registered as Psychometrist with the HPCSA - Essential


Experience, Skills and Competencies Requirements

4 years+ HR Generalist experience.

Assessment/psychometric experience and personality profiling tools (SHL, BIOSS)
Skilled in LinkedIn, Google and Boolean search methods for recruiting, recruitment agency experience.
MS Office – especially Word and Excel, Outlook and Internet (intermediate).

Experience working with candidate management systems i.e. People Fluent (any system would be preferable)

Vendor management experience.

Experience with contractors and Labour brokers are preferable.


Brief Key Performance Areas

The role will take responsibility for the execution of the overall HR practices, supported by the HR Shared Service Centre and the Centre of Expertise (COE) structure, attending to:


Talent Management

Recruitment and Selection.

Providing professional support and advice on recruitment to line and departmental managers.

Sourcing of candidates for vacant positions.

Manage project based recruitment.


Business partner client service

Analyse HR data and interpret this in terms of trends and suggestions for the BU.

Quarterly feedback on HR trends.

Drive actions identified from trends.


Diversity management

Assist in developing EE plan per BU.

Ensure execution of all diversity initiatives in line with the BU EE Plan.


Performance management

Facilitate the performance management process (contracting, appraisals, reporting on trends, informal training).


Change management

Facilitate and manage any change management interventions in the BU.


Training and Development

Facilitate discussions regarding work related and post graduate study aid (candidate approval) as well as the placement of learners and graduates.

Facilitate delivery on T&D needs through companywide programmes and putting interventions in place in consultations with T&D COE to address those needs that cannot be addressed through generic programmes.


Employee Relations

Provide sound advice to ensure the organisation complies with best practice and legislative issues.

Provide support to line managers in dealing with disciplinary, incapacity and grievance matters.

Deal with all appeals from disciplinary proceedings in line with the disciplinary code.

Pro-actively addressing training needs in consultation with relevant COE.



Facilitate remuneration processes in BU’s.

Assist remuneration team with awareness of employee wellness offerings.



Knowledgeable about HR practices: recruitment, talent development, performance management, legislation, labour relations, leadership and organisational development, change management and remuneration.

A strong understanding of HR legislation and requirements, and the ability to apply the relevant legislation in the work environment. Specifically, knowledge of employment practices & compliance (Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Skills development Act).

Good knowledge and understanding of HR Best practices, policies and procedures.
