Responsibility

 

Review/develop/implement and lead maintenance strategies:

  • Meet all planned and reported obligation
  • Preparing and managing detailed realistic maintenance work schedules to the required targets across all equipment to achieve the full efficiency.
  • Responsible for Mechanical and Electrical maintenance, Reliability, Engineering and Planning
  • Establish budgets to accurately forecast the expenditure to meet life cycle costing and annual financial targets including Life of Mine forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with these forecasts by regular monitoring and control and acting to correct unplanned circumstances
  • Participate fully in structured business improvement programs to identify opportunities and implement strategies to deliver improved performance
  • Mentor and provide training for your team with staff development programmes of high standards
  • Have a succession plan in place for the subordinates
  • Adhere and be conversate with the environmental, social policies and procedures of the mine which are in line with the statutory requirements and obligation.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years mining experience focused on mobile equipment and fixed plant, with 5 years at similar level or higher
  • Demonstrated experience in large multi pit operations utilising large-scale mining equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and a person who leads by example
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management, project management and cost management
  • Experience in managing department costs and budgeting
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve a department's safety awareness.
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
  • Prior experience in similar roles in Sub-Saharan Africa with demonstrated positive outcomes an advantage.
  • High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
