Responsibilities
As Assistant Director of Engineering, I will perform the following tasks relevant to this role:
Assist the Director of Engineering in managing the daily operations of the department, ensuring that all facilities, systems, and equipment function efficiently.
Supervise and support the engineering team in maintenance tasks, repairs, and technical projects, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal guest comfort.
Support the preparation of the property for seasonal openings and closures, including inspections, equipment maintenance, and system checks.
Assist in budget planning and control, as well as managing inventory of tools, materials, and spare parts.
Ensure compliance with hotel safety procedures, fire regulations, and environmental standards; collaborate in audits and periodic training.
Contribute to the implementation of energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
Coordinate with contractors and external suppliers for maintenance services and technical support.
Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance requests and guest service needs.
Collaborate on renovation and improvement projects, ensuring quality, deadlines, and standards are met.
Prepare maintenance records, reports, and documentation as required by the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications
To perform the role of Assistant Director of Engineering, I possess the required qualifications, technical skills, and experience in a similar or higher role, including the following:
Degree in Engineering or Technical Industrial Engineering, specialized in Electricity, with strong theoretical and practical training in electrical installations for commercial buildings, especially hotels and hospitals.
Proven experience in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and control systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in complex hotel environments.
Strong knowledge of medium-voltage (MV) supply systems, customer substations, transformer stations, switching and insulation cells, and grounding systems.
Comprehensive experience in low-voltage (LV) infrastructure, including main distribution boards (MDB), monitoring systems, secondary panels, automation and control platforms such as BMS and GRMS, audiovisual systems, fire detection and alarm systems, telecommunications, CCTV, backup generators, UPS systems, lightning protection, photovoltaic installations, and electric vehicle charging points.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of regulations, particularly RITE, Legionella, potable water, and swimming pool standards.
Knowledge of electrical regulations and codes.
Experience in managing maintenance contracts and periodic inspections (OCAs).
Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
Fluent Spanish; English is a plus.
A valid European Union work permit is required.
