Position Overview:
This is a commercially driven role that requires a strong command of import-based sourcing, B2B distribution, and commodity trade execution within the solar sector. You will be expected to lead trading activities, from vendor identification and negotiation to deal structuring and last-mile delivery, while ensuring regulatory compliance and cost optimization.
Key Role Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in trading and importing solar components (cells, glass, frames, modules, etc.) within the Indian context
- Proven ability to run a P&L-driven trading book independently with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Indian solar industry — including module assemblers, EPC contractors, IPPs, OEMs, and component distributors
- Experience in dealing with Chinese, Southeast Asian, and European suppliers, including negotiation of payment terms, quality specs, and Incoterms
- Sound understanding of DGFT policies, BIS certification, customs regulations, safeguard duties, and other trade compliance norms specific to solar imports in India
- Excellent market intelligence and the ability to track commodity pricing, demand-supply cycles, currency impacts, and project timelines
- Hands-on approach to working with logistics, warehousing, finance, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution of trade deals
