The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Nuremberg Research Center is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.
We are looking for an Energy Storage System Failure Expert to join our team in the energy field, Nuremberg, Germany.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and identifying the root causes of ESS failures, developing, and implementing corrective and preventive measures, and providing technical support to the operations and maintenance teams.
Responsibilities
- Conduct failure analyses of ESS components and systems, including batteries, inverters, and control systems.
- Work closely with the ESS design and engineering teams to identify design weaknesses and provide input for improvements.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent future failures.
- Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to provide technical support and guidance on ESS maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Keep up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends in energy storage and failure analysis.
Provide technical expertise to customers and other stakeholders on ESS performance and failure analysis.
Requirements
- Min. MSc degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field, PhD is appreciated.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy storage system failure analysis or a related field.
- Strong understanding of battery chemistry, electrical circuits, and control systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment for ESS failure analysis.
- Experience with programming and data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python.
- A good command of root cause analysis methods for backtracking, FMEA, and FRACAS.
- A good command of the product DFX design method and implementation process.
- An understanding of the xDR and fault tree logic and automatic diagnosis tool implementation capabilities in typical scenarios.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
