Our client is a pan-European think tank and policy organization, currently establishing its new Accounting Shared Service Centre in Bulgaria.
The Head of Accounting Shared Services is an experienced and qualified Accountant who owns and delivers the full range of accounting matters, operational and strategic, for the group of 7 European entities. The role holder must be able to operate independently, pro-actively and fully reliably with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels. This is a role that includes a high degree of hands-on accounting as well as more strategic tasks.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage and handle all day-to-day accounting matters and ledgers
- On a monthly basis close the books and prepare the management reporting package
- Prepare single and consolidated annual accounts and manage financial audits
- Manage payments and support cash management
- Maintain and operate the accounting system
- Own and improve financial processes and policies including the internal control system
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance
- Develop good working relationships with tax advisors, auditors and banks
- Manage and develop staff
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Business or accountancy qualification or equivalent professional/educational standard with strong technical bookkeeping knowledge (German GAAP, UK GAAP, or IFRS)
- Several years adequate and relevant hands-on accounting experience in a small to medium sized and international, environment, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation
- Proficient in the use of up-to-date accounting systems as well as in MS Office
- Experience of digitalisation in financial systems and strong system and process skills
- High degree of service orientation and customer focus paired with hands-on approach
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Very good numeracy and analytical skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and another European language (preferably German)
