Business Development Manager – Railway France

Job Purpose
To drive growth in the railway market segment in France by developing strategic business opportunities, managing key accounts, and expanding market presence through technical sales and project-oriented business development.
This is a key role for expanding the company’s impact in critical transportation infrastructure, focusing on bespoke software and engineering service solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a deep understanding of the French railway market and its major stakeholders.
- Develop new business opportunities and generate sales through technical consultation, lead generation, and proposal development.
- Lead customer engagement, from first contact to deal closure, through relationship building, negotiation, and strategic planning.
- Present and demonstrate company capabilities and solutions, tailoring presentations to client-specific challenges.
- Define and execute a go-to-market strategy focused on pipeline development and long-term client partnerships.
- Cooperate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and marketing.
- Travel 2–6 days per month within Europe for client visits, fairs, and networking events.
Education: University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience:
- 5+ years in business development or pre-sales roles related to custom software and engineering solutions.
- Strong project management background, preferably in railway-related projects.
- Proven track record in technical sales and client relationship development, ideally starting operations from scratch.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in bespoke software services, engineering project scoping, and technical proposal writing.
- Strategic account planning and financial analysis of deals.
- Consultative sales style and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex negotiations.
- Proactive, strategic thinker with a “builder” mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities in French and English (C2 level in French required).
- Home office-based position with flexible working hours.
- Monthly travel of 2–6 days across Europe.
