OPERATIONS OFFICER-IASI
Our Client is an independent, pan-European sustainability consultancy specialized in the commercial real estate sector. Their services are dedicated to real estate investment organizations.
The Operations Officer would not only manage country specific operations but will be key to managing the employee lifecycle and making sure the business establishes itself successfully in the region.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The core responsibilities enable efficient day-to-day business operations and HR, helping to keep the business resourced and compliant in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Ensuring operations runs smoothly and providing a key support in scaling the company by streamlining business processes for current and future growth.
• Setting up, organize and manage effective collaboration/ contracts with service providers for the local business unit in terms of infrastructure/facilities, legal, health & safety, recruiting, payroll and any other additional service areas.
• Having full responsibility for legal compliance in all areas of activity regarding the Romanian business unit.
• Develops and maintains local office budgets and approves all spending for the business unit in location.
• Coordinate and organize office activities
• Drives (supported by HQ Management) the implementation of effective processes, coaching and mentoring staff, targeting employee engagement, career development, conflict resolution, motivation, retention of the Romanian team.
• Undertake HR compliance activities and processes for staff employed by Client in Romania, so that global business remains compliant under local employment legislation.
• Update the central HR team on local Romanian HR law and process requirements and discuss approaches so that actions and process align with the company organizational culture as well as with Romanian employment law (e.g., probations, performance management, termination, etc.)
• Onboarding new joiners based in Romania in line with local/country specific legislation
• Assuring accurate employee records and systems in good, up-to-date order so they are current;
• Working together with the central HR team to draft HR policy and updates as appropriate in line with local/country specific legislation in line with global Client’s HR policies unless required by local legislation or market forces
• Continuous review of processes for efficiencies and effectiveness in partnership with the central HR team and to align with Clients processes
• Handle local recruitment activities in agreement with central HR team and build local HR and Recruiting capability
• Support the central HR team with training line managers on relevant topics, and supporting new and existing line managers with management responsibilities and processes in line with local/country specific legislation
• Supporting the central HR team with learning and development activities of Global business
• Work closely with the central HR team to consult on issues related to local (Romania) workplace relations and performance management as required
• Providing advice and assistance on policies, procedures, legislation,
• Other HR initiatives and processes as appropriate to support the business as required by the central HR team as the business continues to expand.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional responsibilities might depend on the business activities and may include:
• Support on HR-related processes for operating in new jurisdictions including aspects of entity establishment, employment contracts, payroll processes.
• Building a local HR and Recruitment function that enables locally effective development and support for all our teams in Romania
Skills/Experience
• Higher education degree
• Romanian and English- full proficiency
• Ongoing expansion of knowledge of Romanian employment law (updated as new law emerges);
• International EU exposure and ability to work well within a wider international culture and context;
• Proven track record in managing a cost center and ideally a full service profit and loss center of >£5-10M
• Proven track record in leading transformational change within a business, demonstrating and evidencing change management to improve business operations
• A passion for growth and learning
• Empathy, approachability and good listening skills
• Strong attention to detail and to following procedures
• Ability to take a step back in order to evaluate a situation or improve processes
• Ability to balance process with understanding of the wider context
• Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task where required
• Overall Positive Attitude that will contribute to a better work environment for all members of the staff
• Able to demonstrate a good track record of project delivery
• A good understanding of how data is playing an increasing role in business operations would be advantageous (desirable)
