Our client is looking for a Commercial & Business Development Director based in France (Hauts de France region).
Recruitment Considered / The Challenges of the Position
Reporting To: Vice President Europe Role
Purpose:
Drive new business development selling cleint's strengths and capabilities, maximizing sales and profitability.
Take an active role in the development and implementation of Sales strategy.
To manage and support the sales account managers.
Candidate Profile / Requirements / Experience- Strong knowledge and proven experience within the color cosmetics / personal care / beauty industry
- Passion for product development and selling

- 8+ years role related business experience
- Excellent team leader: the ability to effectively manage, drive & motivate a team
- Excellent numerical skills

- Flexibility to travel both in France and abroad
- Bi-lingual French / English (must be fluent in English) - ideally you have experience of the US business culture and negotiation with Americans)
Missions / Responsibilities
1. Commercial Management 50 %
- Support the Account Managers in the commercial management, development and implementation of business strategy, maximizing profitability
- Agree budgets, monitor and control maximizing profitability
- Always support the team in the forecasting of all specified accounts sales & margins by period monitor.
- Working with the Finance Analysts analyses commercial requirements to maximiz profitability and drive price realization
- Ensure correct allocation of cost and overhead recovery on all accounts
- Support the team in pricing and negotiation when required.
- Manage stock levels ensuring efficient use of working capital and maximizing margin
- Drive cost saving opportunities maximizing margin
- Working closely with the Supply Chain team and Finance team monitor on an ongoing basis the effect of raw material, componentry, and FX changes on customer pricing. Ensure appropriate prompt actions are taken.
- Report internally as appropriate
2. Business Development 40%
- In conjunction with the Vice President Europe and the Commercial Directors investigate, identify and agree new business opportunities
- Drive and build new business opportunities presenting, building strong relationship and selling the network’s capabilities.
- Manage and develop strategic new enquiries carrying out feasibility work as appropriate
- Working closely with team ensure we drive new business opportunities effectively and efficiently
- Ensure team are proactive in customer NPD presentations
- Ensure new accounts are set up appropriately with correct account management structures
3. Team Management & People 10%
- Train, mentor and coach the team
- Manage direct reports
- Monitor team roles and responsibilities to ensure maximum business efficiency
- Appraisals, succession & personal development plans for team
- Deputies for line manager as appropriate and take an active role in the leadership and management of the commercial team
Decision Making Authority/Mandates/Constraints
- Agreeing pricing within agreed parameters
- Maintaining correct manpower resources
- Implementing company policies and procedures
- Approving Expenses within authorizations matrix parameters
- Approving holidays
- Role Dimensions Financial e.g., limits / mandates non-financial (customers / staff etc.)
- setting pricing for specified accounts & new business developments within agreed pricing structure set by European Vice President, Finance Director and President
- Deputies for European Vice President Commercial when required in customer or internal meetings
- 1 /5 direct reports (although not fixed)
