Our client is an innovative Indian company specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality automotive components. They have (among others) a portfolio of components for small engines, including starter motors, flywheel magnetos, ignition coils, sensors, traction motors etc. With a strong presence in the domestic market, they are now poised for global expansion. To fuel their growth, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to lead their development with North American small engine producers and drive their business to new heights.
Your extensive knowledge of the small engine market, combined with your strong industry network, will be pivotal in driving revenue growth and establishing our brand as a market leader.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, competitors, and opportunities for components within the small engine market (for application such as lawn and garden, ATVs, snowmobiles, jet skis, small gensets etc…).
- Identify potential clients, initiate communication, and lead negotiations to establish partnerships and secure contracts.
- Collaborate with managing director to align business development strategies with overall company objectives.
- Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders at engine manufacturers with purchasing and engineering functions.
- Develop and execute sales plans, encompassing sales forecasts, budgets, and performance targets, to achieve revenue growth and enhance market share.
- Actively engage in direct sales efforts, including product presentations, technical consultations, and demonstrations, to effectively communicate the value proposition of our engine components.
- Monitor industry trends, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities for enhancement and innovation in our engine component offerings.
- Provide insights and recommendations to the product development team based on market feedback and evolving customer needs.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market developments.
- Generate regular reports and presentations for management, summarizing sales performance, market penetration, and growth prospects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field. A Master's degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the engine components or related industries.
- Well-established network of contacts within the small engine manufacturers (for application such as lawn and garden, powersports, ATVs, snowmobiles, jet skis, small gensets etc…).
- Solid understanding of engine components, especially starter motors, flywheel magnetos, ignition coils, sensors, and traction motors, along with their technologies and industry trends.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other pertinent sales tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively within North America.
