Senior Device TCAD Engineer
Job Title: Senior Device TCAD Engineer
Project ID: 1235657
Location: Leuven, Belgium
Reporting Line & Salary Level:
reports to: Senior Manager, Advanced Semiconductor Research
Salary Level: [Confidential – based on experience]
Job Purpose
The Senior Device TCAD Engineer plays a critical role in the research and virtual prototyping of innovative semiconductor devices. This position is responsible for the development of TCAD and DTCO simulation flows to support process and device architecture co-optimization, with the goal of pushing forward the limits of performance, power, and area (PPA). The role is embedded in an international R&D environment, contributing to the design and feasibility of next-generation semiconductor technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Language: Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages such as Dutch or Chinese are a plus.
Responsibility 1: Develop, implement, and validate advanced TCAD/DTCO simulation decks and flows for novel device architectures such as nanosheet FETs (NS), complementary FETs (CFETs), and 2D-material-based transistors.
Responsibility 2: Drive process-device co-optimization through advanced simulation techniques (process emulation, electrical device simulation, variability, and reliability assessments) to meet stringent PPA targets.
Responsibility 3: Monitor semiconductor industry trends, perform benchmarking studies, and engage in competitive analysis through scientific publications and patent literature.
Responsibility 4: Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external academic/industrial partners to align simulation outcomes with technology development goals.
Responsibility 5: Represent the organization at international conferences and workshops; contribute to technical publications and intellectual property generation.
Qualification
Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field – mandatory.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in device simulation using industry-standard TCAD tools (e.g., Synopsys Sentaurus, Silvaco Atlas, Global TCAD Solutions). Proven track record in advanced node device development and research.
