JOB PURPOSE |
As Sr Engineer Advanced Development you will be responsible for independently executing Advanced Development (AD) projects, following TRL (Technology Readiness Level) process framework. Utilizing your advanced technical knowledge and skills, you will execute actions to successful closure of innovative Advanced development/ Technology development projects leading to USP (unique selling propositions) creation and/or IP development for the organization. |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
Define AD project problem statement: Create robust technical problem statement based on comprehensive market research inputs/ technology and competitive landscaping data identified for AD project. Participate in hackathons, brainstorming sessions for creating ideas for problem statement defined.
Execute AD projects: Utilize a structured TRL-based process from TRL1 to TRL6 with design thinking principles, to design and develop consumer product features across various categories, ensuring systematic progress from concept to prototype while maturing design theoretically, creating POC and validating them, while meeting cost targets assigned for the feature, ensuring concept meet both technical specifications and consumer expectations effectively. Wherever required, interact with external partners to enable technology development. He should strive towards FTR(First time right) deliverables during execution.
Conduct Functional Proof at Component and System Levels: Executing engineering calculations and physics-based simulations, using predictive engineering practices to ensure product components and systems meet functional requirements and reliability standards
Identify and Validate USPs (unique selling propositions) and Claims: Create unique selling propositions (USPs) and claims that differentiate products in the market. Utilize tools like DFMEA, FEA, functional analysis, prototyping, DFSS tools like DoE etc. and testing to validate product concepts.
Create Intellectual property: Create Intellectual property of the innovation projects executed by considering overall long term and short-term business strategy for the idea under consideration
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders for successful handover of Advanced development project fit for cost, manufacturability, and scalability for commercialization. |

B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Tech / Mechanical/ Mechatronics
Desirable: PhD in engineering / Physics |

5-10 years of progressive experience in engineering roles, demonstrating increasing responsibility towards project Execution |

Technical Expertise: Strong engineering fundamentals (Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat & Mass Transfer, Motors, Fluid Transfer), concepts of NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness), reliability to solve complex engineering problems Ability to robustly apply Principles of material sciences (metallurgy, polymer science) and coating technologies in product development. Adept with various prototyping processes and their technical benefits/ tradeoffs for efficient use in actual POCs Advanced understanding of DFMEA, functional analysis, and fundamentals of GDT and stack up analysis and experience of application in actual concepts for technical risk mitigations in AD projects Software Skills: Advanced understanding and experience of using CAD tools such as Creo/ SolidWorks, and Creo Simulate/ Cosmos for linear static and CFD simulations for validation of digital concepts Analytical Skills: Expertise in executing advanced data analysis and complex calculations during evaluation of design decisions. IP Processes: In-depth understanding of IP process and experience of filing patents and protecting technical ideas. |
