Responsibilities
• Use modelling/simulation tools for predicting the behaviour of industrial hydraulic products such as positive displacement pumps – both with basic tools for lumped parameter modelling/simulation (e.g., MATLAB) and with advanced CFD software tools (such as Ansys Fluent). (Specialized training will be provided if needed.)
• Read and interpret 3D CAD/parametric models of fluid machinery (e.g., hydraulics, pumps, compressors, blowers) subsystems, assemblies and parts, and instrumentation data from experimental runs.
• Develop validated engineering models and simulations applied to fluid machinery (including positive displacement and impeller pumps).
• Troubleshoot pump performance and endurance problems and build models and simulations that explain the cause of the problems.
• Recommend design changes to improve the performance and reliability of pumps and establish the efficacy of design improvements with simulations.
• Assure proper documentation and security of technical data generated by the models and simulations.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Master’s degree in Fluids Mechanics/CFD with 3+ years relevant industrial experience.
• Preferred - PhD in Fluid Mechanics/CFD with 2+ years relevant industrial experience.
• Expert in Fluid Mechanics/CFD with in-depth knowledge of the field (e.g., Ansys Fluent/CFX, COMSOL and general-purpose tools like MATLAB).
