Job Purpose
This role is designed for a highly qualified expert with a strong academic and industrial background to lead the identification, assessment, and strategic planning of advanced and emerging technologies.
The focus is on enabling long-term innovation and shaping the technological direction of the organization through high-impact analysis, feasibility studies, and collaborative program development.
Key Responsibilities
Language:
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
Proficiency in Chinese is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
Language:
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
Proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
- Responsibility 1: Conduct comprehensive research, simulations, and trend analysis to evaluate emerging technologies and assess their strategic relevance and commercial viability.
- Responsibility 2: Create high-quality technical and strategic reports for senior leadership, including chief scientists and executives, to inform investment and roadmap decisions.
- Responsibility 3: Initiate and drive early-stage feasibility assessments, simulations, and proof-of-concept evaluations to support technical strategy and roadmap formulation.
- Responsibility 4: Lead and coordinate long-term innovation initiatives at both corporate and business unit (BU) levels, ensuring alignment with business goals and global trends.
- Responsibility 5: Collaborate with a wide range of external stakeholders, including academic institutions, industrial partners, and research bodies, to nurture innovation ecosystems.
- Responsibility 6: Support the development and early validation of technology demonstrators and prototypes when needed.
- Responsibility 7: Organize internal knowledge-sharing events, workshops, and technical exchanges with external thought leaders.
- Responsibility 8: Advise cross-functional teams in product development by integrating technology foresight into planning processes.
Qualifications
Education:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Microelectronics, or a closely related field.
- MSc with exceptional academic background and 10+ years of highly relevant experience may also be considered.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in academia, R&D, or advanced industry roles involving strategic technology assessment and innovation planning.
- Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- VLSI design and semiconductor Fabrikation
- 3DIC and heterogeneous integration
- Multi-physics simulation (thermal, optical, electrical)
- Imaging System Architecture
- Advanced computing (CPU/GPU/AI)
- AI/ML hardware accelerators and algorithms
- Low-power design across device and system levels
- AI-enabled wireless communication and RAN evolution.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced modeling, simulation, and technical evaluation methodologies
- Technology Scouting and Roadmap planning
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for high-impact reporting
- Strategic mindset with attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary projects with clear objectives and deliverables.
- Strong collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills
- Independent, self-motivated learner and critical thinker
- Willingness to travel within Europe and internationally.
- Full-time position based in Leuven, Belgium
- Occasional international travel (conferences, partner visits)
