Educational Requirements:
Essential:

• MB ChB or equivalent.
• MRCP UK
• Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or will be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
• GMC with license to practice
• FRCP

Desirable:

• Higher Degree PhD, MD or equivalent
• Formal leadership qualification

Experience & Skills:
     Essential:

• Evidence of training in specialty.
• Leadership skills
• IT skills
• Able to work in multidisciplinary teams and supervise juniors
• All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication with patients and colleagues.
• Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable:

• Accredited management training.
• Evidenceof management and administration experience.
• Evidence of Clinical research, and a relevant specialty evidence.
• Publications in Nationally or internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals on subjects relevant to specialty.

Job Description:

• Providing high quality consultant-delivered care to patients
• Ensuring patient safety, dignity and care are given the highest priority
• Being proactive in ensuring that patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making
• Undertaking clinical leadership and supervision, teaching and training of junior medical staff
• Liaising with clinicians and managers to address any issues arising that may affect the services
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the acute medicine services.
• There may be opportunities to pursue an area of specialist interest, eg developing new services or pathways.
