Position Overview:

The Application Developer will be part of our New Products & Strategies team and will work closely with team members to maintain and expand multiple existing software products. These products create and work with a range of data, from large denormalized pharma data sets to relational application data. The data storage technologies used include but are not limited to Snowflake, Azure SQL, SQL Server, and Azure Blob storage. At first, the candidate’s primary responsibilities would be maintaining and adding new functionality to existing databases and data processes, but this is a role with room for growth into building new applications.

Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, strong technical and analytical skills, possess excellent communication skills, have a positive attitude, willing to learn new technologies and be able to efficiently organize their work.

Responsibilities:

Include but not limited to:

• Maintain complex, existing SQL databases and data processes for multiple products
• Build and maintain custom applications meeting client requirements.
• Maintain Azure application infrastructure (including but not limited to Azure SQL databases) for multiple products
• Develop new database objects like stored procedures, functions, and views when necessary for new product features and/or ad hoc client requests

• Troubleshoot and analyze databases to fix bugs and address performance problems while also taking a proactive approach to minimize such issues

• Maintain an awareness of the latest technologies and make recommendations where appropriate to optimize performance and cost

Education:

Candidate will have a minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related Engineering field with 3-5 years of active database and python development experience.

Qualifications:

• Strong Microsoft SQL Server/Azure SQL /Snowflake skills
• Strong data modeling and database design skills
• Experience working with popular python libraries like pandas, numpy
• Strong data analytical skills
• Knowledge of relational database concepts, warehousing and ETL
• Experience in at least one popular Python framework (like Django, Flask or Pyramid)
• Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
• Experience with Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GoogleCloud)
• Hand-on experience with Windows based scripting languages like powershell/batch
• Writes high quality and thoroughly tested code
• Professional, pro-active communication and ability to multitask in a flexible environment
• Experience with CI/CD approaches and technologies (preferred)
• Experience with C#/.NET Core (preferred)
• Experience with VBA (preferred)
• Experience working in pharmaceutical industry is a plus (preferred)
