Job Description
For a luxury resort in Tuscany we are currently recruiting for an
Assistant Executive Housekeeper
The ideal candidate supports the Executive Housekeeper to ensure the operation of the department is running efficiently while looking for opportunities to improve the operation of the department.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
- Communicate with Executive Housekeeper on all matters relating to Housekeeping operations.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
- Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis by being proactive in the maintenance of the Housekeeping department’s appearance, organization and operational effectiveness.
- To be acting Executive Housekeeper when the Executive is off the property for a period of time.
- Direct and support supervisors, room attendants, house attendants and other Housekeeping staff with assignments.
- Train new managers and supervisors, and assist the training of room attendants, housepersons and other housekeeping staff.
- Ensure the public areas are cleaned and meet standards and conduct regular daily inspections of the space.
- Assist in all physical inventory of linens and supplies
- Involved directly with the hiring, counselling, developing, and disciplining of staff in accordance with hotel policies and procedures of all housekeeping staff such as Housekeeping Supervisor, Room Attendant, Valet Attendant and House Attendant
- Prepare work schedules for effective staffing, ensuring efficient operation of the department within specific labor standard on a weekly basis
- Maintain an accurate schedule of room maintenance
- Assist Executive Housekeeper in communicating expectations, recognizing performance, and producing desired business results.
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining strong working relationship with Front Office, Engineering, and Guest Services to ensure effective communications for operational issues.
- Handle and resolve all guest and associate concerns and present to management
- Be a “brand ambassador” at all times and ensure brand integrity and clarity are always maintained
- Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale.
- Interact and respond in a courteous and professional manner with all guests, staff and community members, inclusive of resolving all guest and staff difficulties.
- Ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
- Ability to read and interpret business records and statistical reports; basic mathematical skills to interpret financial information and prepare budgets
- Work with minimal supervision
- Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years previous experience working as Assistant Executive Housekeeper or longer in a Supervisor role for a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team.
- Fluent in English and Italian both verbal and written.
