Overview
An international banking institution is seeking a Business Compliance Officer to support its Correspondent Banking and Client Onboarding activities in Accra.
The successful candidate will support due diligence, AML/KYC reviews, sanctions assessments and onboarding activities relating to correspondent banking relationships and Money Service Businesses (MSBs). The role requires strong attention to detail, stakeholder engagement skills and practical exposure to financial crime compliance processes within a regulated financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the assessment and review of AML/CTF and sanctions control frameworks for correspondent banking relationships and MSBs.
- Conduct enhanced due diligence reviews in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews of correspondent banking relationships.
- Provide analytical and management information reports highlighting key risks, issues and trends.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders across Compliance, Client Onboarding, Operations and Business teams to ensure timely completion of onboarding requirements.
- Support the collection and review of customer documentation and KYC information.
- Assist in maintaining tracking and monitoring tools for deficiencies, remediation actions and review outcomes.
- Contribute to improving client experience through effective communication and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support onsite reviews and sample checks to assess effectiveness of control frameworks where required.
- Promote awareness and understanding of financial crime compliance expectations across relevant stakeholders.

Knowledge & Experience
- Experience within a bank or regulated financial institution is required.
- Prior exposure to Client Onboarding, AML/KYC, Financial Crime Compliance or Correspondent Banking is preferred.
- Understanding of sanctions, high-risk jurisdictions and onboarding controls will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with banking operations and regulatory compliance processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant professional qualification.
- Professional certification in Compliance, AML or Financial Crime is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and Office 365.
