Location: Mumbai
Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in Home linen/fabric/fashion category with background in Design & textiles/Handloom (Min 5yrs as a Buyer)
Reporting to: Chief Category Head (Home fashion)
Expected to travel National & International
Education: Degree from NIFT Institute / NID Institute
Team Handling : 3 - 4 people (merchandiser, purchase officer, Asst Buyer, Designer)
Working: 6 days a week, with 2nd & 4th Sat Off.
Role Purpose :
Play an essential role in the product development of all products that will be sold through the stores. Process includes designing, making it viable for mass production, pricing, sourcing and display, It’s a dynamic job. You will need to be an expert in all facets of the creative process — and the creative industry — to produce the best work.
Role Description :
Expertise in product development, costing & sourcing & latest home trends.
Identify and quantify the available market opportunity.
Plan the product range and pricing strategy based on desired positioning to optimally tap the opportunity.
Initiate buying as per OTB and ensure timely delivery and availability of stocks at the store.
Align buy with planning & finalize the sales, margin and inventory for the Concept.
Ensure timely implementation of and define planograms the guidelines for proper presentation of the product.
Perform gap analysis post launch and make appropriate corrections. Regularly collect and analyze product feedback during store visits.
Track competition in terms of business performance, promotions and offers.
Manage Brand relationships. Negotiate terms of trade with new brands and regularly review performance of existing brands for corrective action.
Work with the Marketing team for photo campaigns to ensure the next season trends and style are well captured and presented.
Build long term relationships with brand partners / vendors by understanding their strategy, positioning, scalability, and relevance.
Assess and build relationships with vendors for quality, price, scalability and best practices.
Have an eye for clean and artful design, Great if possess UI skills.
Stay on top of all design trends and maintain best practices.
Skills required:
Proficient use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools
Excellent leadership skills
Knowledge of latest home trends
A strong understanding of brand development and multichannel marketing concepts
Strong persuasive and negotiation skills
Notes:
Responsible for P&L of category, ensuring margins are at place.
Currently handling 1 category. In future to handle multiple categories
Non negotiable exp - Textile handloom, Degree from NIFT/NDI, buyer for 5yrs, vendor mgt,
Open to Travel in India & abroad fairs
