Our client is a leading Romanian omnichannel retailer in electronics, home-appliances, IT & multimedia, with a strong nationwide store network and online presence. Their mission is to make technology accessible to all customers through seamless online & in-store experiences.
They already have an established DIY / home-improvement category and are looking to strengthen their marketing leadership in this area.
Digital marketing experience in retail , ecommerce/online is a major advantage.
Role Purpose
You will lead the marketing strategy for the DIY / home-improvement category with the following goals:
- Grow category revenue and market share in DIY/home-improvement products.
- Position the brand as the preferred destination for DIY consumers (homeowners, hobbyists, professionals).
- Deliver synchronized, multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, in-store and experiential formats.
- Work closely with merchandising, operations, ecommerce, logistics and CRM teams to deliver a seamless omnichannel customer journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement 12- and 36-month marketing roadmaps for the DIY/home-improvement category.
- Conduct market research, customer segmentation and insight work to understand DIY-consumer behaviours, triggers and pain-points.
- Define clear positioning, value propositions and messaging targeting homeowners, hobbyists and trade users.
- Plan and execute integrated campaigns across digital, social, influencer, POS, events and in-store channels.
- Collaborate with product/merchandise teams to shape assortments, bundling, promotion, pricing and launches specific to the DIY/home-improvement category.
- Leverage omnichannel retail: online, click-&-collect, store demo/workshop zones, offline + online integration.
- Build CRM and loyalty programmes to drive repeat purchase, engagement and customer lifetime value.
- Set key performance indicators (KPIs) such as category revenue growth, traffic uplift, online conversion rate, new-customer acquisition, repeat purchase rate; monitor performance and optimise.
- Manage the marketing budget for the category; ensure spend is allocated efficiently and delivers measurable business outcomes.
- Lead a team of marketing specialists and manage external agencies/vendors; ensure team performance and collaboration across functions.
- Monitor trends in tools, renovation, smart-home, garden and DIY/home-improvement sectors; track competitor activity and advise strategic responses.
Required Experience & Skills
- min 7-10 years of marketing experience, with at least 3-5 years in the DIY, home-improvement, tools, building-supplies or a closely-related retail category.
- Proven track record of achieving category growth in a retail or omnichannel environment.
- Experience in integrated marketing across digital, physical stores and event/experiential channels.
- Strong understanding of consumer journeys, segmentation and behaviours specifically in a DIY or home-improvement context.
- Data-driven: able to define KPIs, analyse results and adjust strategy accordingly.
- Demonstrated leadership experience: managing a team, working cross-functionally and managing agencies/vendors.
- Fluent in Romanian and English (written and spoken).
- Experience working with CRM/loyalty programmes, omnichannel retail journeys and budget management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field; an MBA or advanced marketing qualification is a plus.
