Purpose of the Role:
- This Chief Accountant position presents a unique opportunity for a Senior Accountant or an experienced Sr. Auditor from Audit & Accounting company who will have led the financial accounting department and actively contribute to the financial well-being of the organization. In this pivotal role, you will primarily oversee the management of the company's financial records, ensuring their accuracy, and preparing financial statements. Additionally, you will be responsible for analysing and interpreting financial data and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
MUST HAVEs for this role:
- A solid professional background with sufficient exposure to all accounting and taxation topics
- IFRS experience – an absolute must
- Good knowledge of the English language is necessary; this person must be able to have a conversation in English on professional financial topics with colleagues in the global group
- An open and positive personality that demonstrates someone active, curious, with the power of transformation and the desire to do more, with a professional curiosity and ambition to build with the team, to mobilize the team (transformation capabilities)
- This Chief Accountant will directly report to the local entity's CFO and it’s replacing a former Chief Accountant.
Responsibilities:
- Take over from the old Chief Accountant the activity of Supervising and guiding daily operations within the accounting department.
- Verify accounting data to generate financial reports and statements.
- Enforcing sound accounting methods, policies, and principles, where needed
- Leading the closure of month- and year-end processes, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of reporting packages.
- Conducting monthly General Ledger (GL) reconciliations.
- Evaluating disparities between local and group accounting practices.
- Orchestrating and overseeing annual financial audits.
- Managing the annual inventory - stock count process.
- Staying updated on fiscal changes and ensuring adherence to local legislation.
- Supervise tax statements and meticulously check the tax returns to comply with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements.
- Cultivating relationships with financial institutions and the state treasury.
- Vigilantly monitoring cash flow and evaluating cash requirements.
- Innovating and enhancing systems and procedures, and instigating corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensuring the efficacy of internal controls over financial records.
- Leading and nurturing a team of accountants, fostering their professional growth and motivation.
- Overseeing accountants' activities and refining work processes for enhanced efficiency.
- Serving as an advisor and strategic partner for various business functions, devising solutions that facilitate business expansion.
Requirements: To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, complemented by CECCAR membership (or Authorized Accountant)
- A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a comparable role; although we welcome people who are not yet Chief Accountants to apply, they must be 100% eligible for this promotion now.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a quick grasp of new software and systems.
- A working knowledge of SAP is a valuable addition.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to excel under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and an unwavering attention to detail.
- Proficiency in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication is an imperative requirement for English language skills.
- Demonstrated capacity for leadership and supervision, with a focus on building a team.
- A strong customer-centric orientation
