For our client, a construction company based in Cluj-Napoca, we are seeking a:
Chief Accountant
Role Purpose:
Supports the company's objectives by performing accounting and asset management activities, ensuring that all the organization’s financial activities comply with accounting standards and legal regulations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the operation and recording of all transactions in the company's accounting system;
- Ensures the correct recording of accounting operations according to legal norms, the legality and accuracy of accounting and financial documents, checks the correlations between accounts, and performs accounting corrections;
- Checks accounting entries by cost centers, budget, and cash-flow codes, and issues expense reports by cost centers;
- Accounts for production, deliveries, and inventory of products in warehouses, and participates in inventory processes;
- Responsible for the quality of the company's financial-accounting activities and the accuracy of accounting analyses;
- Maintains the monthly records of fixed assets and calculates depreciation, verifying the consistency between accounting and asset management records;
- Monitors investment processes in fixed assets from an accounting and documentary perspective (entry documents, handover-receipt, contracts, etc.);
- Responsible for the accurate preparation of financial-accounting documents such as annual/semi-annual reports, monthly statements, budgets of revenues and expenses, balance sheets, and trial balances;
- Prepares all financial analysis reports like P&L, cash flow, or other reports requested by the company management;
- Represents the company in relations with financial institutions, insurers, authorities, and the financial auditor;
- Reports to the General Manager all monthly situations regarding economic-financial transactions.
Skills:
- Technical Accounting Evaluation: Evaluates and investigates transactions according to accounting regulations to ensure their recording in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Understanding Financial Regulations: Evaluates applicable financial regulations, such as tax reports, banking, pensions, and local accounting to ensure transactions are recorded in compliance with these regulations; explains key requirements and purposes of the regulations, as well as business implications, to inform and educate relevant stakeholders.
- Business Process and Risk Analysis for Internal Controls: Evaluates business processes to identify risks and gaps in internal controls; applies understanding of business processes and relevant risks to develop and implement process optimizations; develops risk management plans by applying the internal control framework to address identified risks.
- Internal Financial Controls: Leverages an internal control framework by assessing internal checks and developing remediation plans to mitigate financial reporting risks and meet changing business needs.
- Financial Analysis: Interprets financial data by analyzing trends, variations, opportunities, and risks to provide stakeholders with insights on the financial impact to drive business improvements; evaluates financial results against objectives to communicate findings to all stakeholders; ensures data integrity by investigating variations and determining corrective measures to resolve identified issues.
Profile:
- Economics/Finance-Banking studies and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position;
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and Outlook; advanced knowledge of Excel; ERP systems experience;
- Relevant professional experience in a similar role;
- Advanced knowledge of financial-accounting legislation;
- Advanced English language proficiency;
- Experience in dealing with banks and managing credit lines, guarantee letters, deposits, etc.;
- Good organizational and task prioritization skills;
- Accuracy and high attention to detail;
- Analytical and mathematical logic capabilities;
- Good communication skills with colleagues and other departments;
- Results-oriented;
- Multitasking, teamwork capability, adaptability, flexibility.
