SalaryOpen to discuss according to experienceLocationBucharest, RomaniaIndustryFinancial ServicesJob DescriptionWe are looking for a full-time Chief Accountant with experience in IFRS 9 reporting for non-banking financial institutions in Romania and elsewhere.The candidate will be directly reporting to the CFO and will be responsible for a full set of accounting activities including consolidated reporting, bookkeeping, and payment execution, statutory reporting to the National Bank of Romania, and liaising with external accountants as needed to support the group’s activities.
Responsibilities:
- Take charge of comprehensive accounting and bookkeeping for all operational companies within the Group across Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland. This includes managing financial transactions with merchants, vendors, and suppliers.
- Oversee the monthly and annual financial reporting for all Group entities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements (Profit & Loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements). This also involves detailed cash flow and P&L analysis at a transactional level.
- Handle all payment settlements with merchants and suppliers within the Group.
- Prepare VAT and other necessary tax reports for Romania and Poland on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax regulations.
- Prepare and analyze statutory financial statements for Romania in accordance with IFRS 9 standards, ensuring they meet accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, and make necessary adjustments to financial reporting processes.
- Work with internal and external accountants and auditors to facilitate audit preparation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the deployment and maintenance of automated IFRS 9 software solutions as required.
- Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiencies in financial controls, reporting, and accounting operations.
- Provide bookkeeping input and coordinate with external accountants in the preparation of statutory statements for the respective legal entities.
- Collaborate with external accountants of the Group's holding company in the preparation of annual financial statements for the group.
- Support the CFO and Group management with financial and tax analysis to aid in strategic decision-making.
- Effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders, including senior management, investors, and regulatory authorities.
- Manage bank accounts, plan and oversee liquidity, and assist with KYC and payment documentation requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or ACCA certification is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in financial reporting, with a strong focus on IFRS standards.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS 9 reporting requirements for financial institutions, including complex financial instruments.
- Experience in preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software with IFRS 9 reporting capabilities and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Experience in leading or supervising junior accounting staff.
- Experience in implementing IFRS 9 models is a plus.
