For our trusted client – an established manufacturing company with a long-standing market presence and strong positioning within its sector – we are seeking an experienced and responsible professional for the role of Chief Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall management of the company’s accounting and financial reporting activities, with a strong focus on production processes, cost accounting, and financial control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and oversee the entire accounting function in compliance with applicable legislation
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
• Prepare and sign financial statements in accordance with Bulgarian accounting standards and IFRS
• Ensure accurate accounting of production costs, materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
• Calculate and analyze product cost and support optimization of manufacturing expenses
• Monitor inventory levels and material flows, and participate in stock-taking processes
• Ensure proper VAT reporting, including intra-Community transactions and transactions with third countries
• Prepare and submit all statutory declarations and reports to the relevant authorities (National Revenue Agency, National Statistical Institute, Bulgarian National Bank, etc.)
• Manage fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal
• Coordinate relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
• Participate in tax inspections, audits, and financial reviews
• Develop and improve internal accounting policies, procedures, and control mechanisms
• Lead and develop the accounting team

Main Requirements:

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in accounting, including at least 5 years in a managerial role
• Mandatory experience in a manufacturing environment
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
• Strong knowledge of Bulgarian accounting and tax legislation, as well as IFRS
• Good understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and production cycles
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proven leadership skills and ability to manage and develop a team
• Very good command of MS Office (especially Excel)
• Experience with ERP systems (experience with manufacturing modules is an advantage)
