Job Title: Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) – Congo DRC

Job Summary:
The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of compliance within the bank. The incumbent will ensure that the bank's operations adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices. The CCO will develop and implement compliance policies and procedures, conduct regular risk assessments, and provide guidance to senior management on compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy and Procedure Development:
- Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures in line with local and international regulations.
- Ensure that policies are communicated effectively and understood by all relevant stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor changes in local and international regulations affecting the banking industry in the DRC.
- Provide guidance on compliance requirements and ensure the bank's adherence to regulatory standards.
Risk Assessment:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
Training and Awareness:
- Provide training to employees on compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of compliance awareness throughout the organization.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish and maintain a system for monitoring and reporting on compliance issues.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and relevant committees.
Internal Investigations:
- Lead or oversee internal investigations into compliance matters.
- Ensure timely and thorough resolution of compliance issues.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cross-functional compliance.
- Work closely with legal and risk management teams.
Audits:
- Coordinate and manage compliance audits, both internal and external.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA) is a plus.
- Proven experience in a compliance role within the banking industry, preferably in the DRC.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international banking regulations and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Professional certifications in compliance (e.g., CRCM) are desirable.
