JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the senior medical leader within the organization, overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of high-quality patient care. The CMO collaborates with executive leadership, clinical department heads, and medical staff to ensure the implementation of best practices and clinical excellence across the healthcare institution. As a key advocate for patient safety, quality improvement, and medical staff engagement, the CMO plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's clinical governance and guiding the development of innovative healthcare initiatives.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership in the design and implementation of clinical programs, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety protocols aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
- Clinical Governance: Establish and monitor clinical governance frameworks to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in patient care and safety.
- Physician Collaboration: Foster collaborative relationships with medical staff, clinical leaders, and departments to promote a culture of teamwork, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
- Quality Improvement: Lead and oversee quality improvement projects, performance metrics, and outcomes data to drive continuous improvement in clinical care processes and patient outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, accreditation standards, and legal requirements related to medical practice, patient care, and healthcare operations.
- Resource Allocation: Collaborate with executive leadership to optimize resource allocation, staffing models, and medical technology investments to support exceptional patient care delivery.
- Community Engagement: Represent the organization in community health initiatives, advocacy efforts, and public health partnerships to promote wellness and preventive care measures.
- Clinical Education: Support the development of clinical education programs, research endeavors, and the professional development of medical staff, residents, and fellows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Medical degree from an accredited institution and active medical licensure.
- Saudi Board certification in a medical specialty.
- Substantial clinical experience and a proven track record of academic and clinical leadership within a healthcare setting.
- Executive leadership experience or a relevant advanced management degree (e.g., MHA, MBA) is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality improvement methodologies, and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Professional Experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience within the Riyadh region, preferably ranging from 5 to 10 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity within a healthcare setting.
Language
- Proficiency in English; additional proficiency in Arabic may be beneficial.
