We are seeking a Commercial Director Romania & CEE Market for the Gas Trading division, for our client, a global resources company that is currently developing a new division in Romania. The position reports to the CEO and will be responsible for leading the commercial team in managing gas trading activities. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial acumen, and excellent analytical skills, with trading expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the gas trading division
- Manage and mentor the gas trading team in executing trades and managing exposure
- Identify new opportunities for growth
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and customers
- Analyze market trends to make trading decisions
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines
- Present trading strategies to the board of directors
Responsible for the development of the gas business in CEE Market Analysis:
-Conducting an in-depth analysis of gas market trends, supply and demand dynamics, price patterns, and other factors that can impact gas prices.
Trading Strategy Development:
- Developing and implementing trading strategies based on market analysis, risk tolerance, and profit objectives. This includes identifying potential trading opportunities, assessing market risks, and determining optimal entry and exit points for trades.
Trade Execution:
- Executing trades on gas exchanges or over-the-counter (OTC) platforms. This involves placing orders, negotiating contracts, and monitoring trade executions to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
Risk Management:
- Managing and mitigating trading risks through risk management tools such as hedging strategies, options, futures contracts, and derivatives. Gas traders need to assess and manage risks associated with price volatility, market liquidity, credit exposure, and operational risks.
Relationship Management:
- Building and maintaining relationships with counterparties, including gas producers, consumers, brokers, and financial institutions. Gas traders often collaborate with other teams within their organization, such as risk management, operations, and finance.
Financial Analysis:
- Conducting financial analysis to evaluate the profitability of trading positions, assessing the impact of market factors on trading performance, and reporting on financial metrics such as profit and loss (P&L), risk exposure, and trading volumes.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Adhering to relevant trading regulations, market rules, and compliance procedures. Gas traders must stay informed about regulatory requirements related to trading activities, reporting obligations, market abuse prevention, and anti-money laundering (AML) measures.
Continuous Learning:
- Keeping up with industry trends, new trading strategies, and technological advances that can enhance trading efficiency.
- Engaging in professional development activities, attending industry conferences, and networking with peers are important for staying competitive in the gas trading field.
- Build and coach a relevant team of operators, junior traders, trade schedulers, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in trading
- Proven track record of success in a leadership role
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines, including risk management and compliance
